Japanese Honeysuckle Extract, A Naturally Occurring Paraben

 

 

Although this ingredient has an exotic and beautiful name, it is nothing but a natural paraben. Their behaviour and chemical structure are closely related as you can clearly see from the illustration below. 

 

Parabens are cosmetic preservatives that have been used in skin care extensively until recently. Parabens are minor estrogen disruptors and were found in breast tumours. While there is no conclusive evidence to suggest that the parabens are the cause of women developing breast tumours, it definitely proves that our skin absorbs the skin care ingredients that we apply.
